Time dependent attributes

To explain time dependent attributes and its use.. lets take an example of employee Master data..


Employee 100 was working at Delhi location.. In 01-01-2010 he got transferred to Chennai..
Now our Master Data will look like this..


What if we want to track Employee 100 before 01-01-2010..


For this we can keep Employee region as Time Dependent Attribute

When we define region as Time dependent, 2 new fields are added... Date from and Date to...



EXERCISE

 Create Master data with date Attributes and load to target..



create data source















Create InfoPackage














Now our data is available in datasource...

Its time to define region as time dependent attribute






give a check mark in that column... now our region field is time dependent



Create transformation from source to target








Create DTP










now lets see data in master data info object


Now we can keep track of the data according to date
