ECC datasource have 2 structures
Extract Structure
Transfer Structure
when we replicate Datasource into BW system...
the structure of transfer structure is replicated in BW..
Extract Structure will have all the fields available in Datasource...
We can select the fields that need to be transferred to BW... This is selection is called Customization..
Only the selected fields will be available in Transfer structure.
Adding fields into the Extract Structure of Datasource is known as Enhancement..
Now lets create a Datasource from an ECC table..
TCODE - RSO2
As VBAK is sales table.... select application component as SD
Now save..
This is the Extract structure of our Datasource...
we have 4 columns here..
- Selection
- Hide field
- Inversion
- Field only
Selection: This gives Selection option for that field. which will help in selective loading of data for that field...
lets keep Sales document, Sales organization and date as selective loading fields..
Hide field: The fields checked here will not be available in Transfer structure..all the fileds which are not needed is checked....
After doing the needed customization.. generate Datasource
Now our Datasource is ready... now lets check if we have data in that Datasource using Extract checker
Tcode RSA3
we got Sales organization, sales document and date for selective loading...
( It is because we had given check mark in selection column)
Now replicate Datasource in BW..
The datasource what we made in ECC is now replicated in BW..
Replicated Datasources will be inactive mode... activate datasource..
Create an infoPackage and pull data..
Now we have data in PSA ..
Take it to the corresponding targets...

Hi Mohammad,
ReplyDeleteGreat piece of work. !! Thanks
Thank you

ReplyDeleteDo you mention tutotial of non-Lo DataSource Extraction? If yes please share it. Thanks
Thanks Aslam for sharing this great information. I have a question though : What is the difference between extraction from ECC Tables and extraction from ECC?
ReplyDeleteSalam, Aslam
ReplyDeleteThank you for tutorial.
Wow a great blog, Aslam , you are the best, and your blog is the best I have ever seen on BW. Can you post steps on loading data using DB Conn to bring data from external source system such as Oracle to SAP BW ? Also do you mind writing one on HybridProvider with Real-time Data Acquisition (RDA) ? Thanks!
